Comments I still don’t know how this works I was at Disney Animation when they first showed us the animatronics for the new Beauty and the Beast ride for Tokyo Disneyland. I never saw this transformation and still don’t understand how it works. Honestly a lot of code I write feels the same way. In the previous post , we have discussed the trimmed modification of the Harrell-Davis quantile estimator based on the highest density interval of size $\sqrt{n}/n$. This quantile estimator showed a decent level of statistical efficiency. However, the research wouldn’t be complete without comparison with the winsorized modification. Let’s fix it!

Comments Planning work I’m sure many of you saw this gif in various places recently. There’s lots of similarities that are obvious from a software engineering perspective. To me it shows how difficult a re-write really is. Estimating “Most people overestimate what they can achieve in a year and underestimate what they can achieve in ten years.” The same is true for what I can achieve in an afternoon and what I can achieve in a week.
