Look at that stupid thing. With its silly little drawers and its wooden frame. Pfft. In reality, it’s just a simple four drawer dresser from Ikea, which I definitely needed because I’ve been living out of a suitcase my mother lent me, and I need to return it eventually. Granted, it was mostly filling out forms, hearing about benefits packages and retirement plans, and going to developer workshops to get synced up with various company policies and infrastructure. Not that it wasn’t interesting (it was), but I’m not a fan of how little I’ve gotten to contribute thus far. I understand it’ll take time to get caught up to speed, I’m certainly not unfamiliar wi..

This is a follow on to my original post on using RX with the Band to stream sensor information. Using the RX streams and some maths to detect (roughly) when a user taps on the band. Nice and quick post here, mainly so I remember when I need it again, this is a quick sample which shows how to make a web call from PowerShell including a cookie. Most old methods will suggest using the WebClient object but the new (well newer than the WebClient) Invoke-WebRequest commandlet is a much nicer, in my opinion. It takes a bit of fooling around to get this up and running so wanted to share.

Gradle is too slow, Ant is too basic. Buck is fast and super-configurable and I’d like to tell you how I use it for Android development. I own a pretty old thinkpad laptop so I don’t expect the builds to be too fast. Ant used to spend 10..40 seconds for each build on my laptop depending on how large the project is. Gradle takes about a minute in average and that’s too long for me - I just lose focus when I just sit and wait for the build re..

The Laravel 5 migration is complete and I’m back to substrate mixing and brain bug fixing! Actually, I think now that basic mixing is done I’m going to do a few weeks of just bug fixing. The substrate has no effect on snails’ attributes or behaviour yet, but it will. For now you can just mix different substrate items together into new substrate items.
