Is demo of Grug Clojure code vibe. He no catch onto cloud LLM magics for some reason. Still prefer program with only brain-muscles. Prefer use Grug language standard library and standard dev tools. Prefer make and use all byte on local disk. Maybe luddite, maybe obsolete. Grug no mind. Fine with how he code. Besides, Grug like muscles. Hope maybe you see tip, trick, tactic to steal. Take what can use, no take what no can use.

Records and Collections This post is to some extent a grab-bag of points of friction I’ve encountered when using records and collections within the election site. Records recap This may end up being the most generally useful blog post in this series. Although records have been in C# since version 10, I haven’t used them … Continue reading Records and Collections →

Storage Since my last post about the data models, I’ve simplified things very slightly – basically the improvements that I thought about while writing the post have now been implemented. I won’t go into the details of the changes, as they’re not really important, but that’s just to explain why some examples might look like … Continue reading Election 2029: Storage →

One of the great parts of building out tools like arkaine is that it allows me to sit down and just build for a bit to test the framework. After some quick experimentation I have a great agent that: Takes in a resume and a job description Considers additional topics to research to build out a knowledge base of what certain acroynms, skills, and technologies mean, and what are industry standards and expectations are

I was a speaker at the first Go meetup in Sydney 2025… the first speaker in fact. As is my habit I am posting my notes for everyone who attended to view them. I believe it was recorded and will post the link to that if I ever get the link. You can find the link to the talk based on the blog post searchcode.com’s SQLite database is probably 6 terabytes bigger than yours .

There are a few interesting scenarios to keep in mind when writing applications (not just databases!) that read and write files, particularly in transactional contexts where you actually care about the integrity of the data and when you are editing data in place (versus copy-on-write for example). We'll go into a few scenarios where the following can happen: Data you write never actually makes it to disk Data you write get sent to the w....

A problem the search engine’s crawler has struggled with for some time is that it takes a fairly long time to finish up, usually spending several days wrapping up the final few domains. This has been actualized recently, since the migration to slop crawl data has dropped memory requirements of the crawler by something like 80%, and as such I’ve been able to increase the number of crawling tasks, which has led to a bizarre case where 99.9%..

In part one of this blog series , I explored the motivation behind developing a personal recommendation system. The main goals are to learn how recommendation systems work and to build a tool that helps me find interesting blog posts and articles from feeds where only 1 in 20 posts might match my content interests. If you are interested in the technical implementation, the complete codebase is available in this github repository .

I heard Isabelle Demers play the Åkerman organ at Uppsala Domkyrka last week. As far as first organ recitals go, this was a beautiful one to have gotten the opportunity to start with - even though the instrument did not seem to particularly resonate with me. Or maybe I just need to hear more of it to properly appreciate it.
