For building a system of distributed services, one concept I think is very valuable to keep in mind is what I call the synchrony budget : as much as possible, a service should minimize the number of synchronous requests which it makes to other services.

LLMs are being experimented with to do so many things today, and one of the use cases that sound compelling is getting their help to generate insights from data. What if you could find the answer to your data question without begging a data analyst in your company? But this is easier said than done. To perform this task properly, LLMs need to know about your datasets, the tables, their schemas, and values stored in them. You can provide thi..

Being able to create multiple bodies in a single SW file can hugely speed up design, because not every ‘part’ deserves its own *.sldprt. However, you’ll usually want to export the bodies as separate STL’s for printing. Here’s a simple … Continue reading →

I did a post a while back which was just a lot of links to things I found interesting, mostly in the geospatial/data/programming sphere. Since then I’ve collected a lot more links – so here are some of them. The theme, such as there is, seems to be ‘this would have really helped me about […]

It’s extremely challenging for MEV newcomers to profit from popular strategies. That’s why, I’ve refined my searching approach to focus on niche and less obvious opportunities. In this blog post, I’ll showcase a Rust CLI tool that helps me query blockchain data to discover long-tail MEV. I will also describe Revm vs RPC EVM tracing techniques and their performance characteristics. Disclaimer: The information provided in this blog post is....

After using Bearblog for like two years, I decided to move to Hugo.io for building my blog and host it via Sourcehut . ( The reason why I prefer Sourcehut over Github ) Bearblog is my first blogging experience and I enjoyed it a lot. It is almost a perfect platform for blogging and it almost has everything what most bloggers need. Yesterday I saw two museums for the first time: Gustavianum and Evolutionsmuseet Paleontologi. Urban sketching at Gusativanum The Urban Sketchers meetup took place at Gustavianum Sunday morning. The museum is huge . We didn’t have time to go through it at the pace it deserved, because the idea was to find something we wanted to draw and get started. But I loved the glimpses I got of all the collections and will definitely be returning to..

I found Golden Son to be even more of a page-turner than Red Rising . The setting of the book changes pretty significantly and the cast of characters around the protagonist mostly shifts as well, but I was kept interested by how the author continues to build out the world of the series. What brings my review down a star is how Brown moves from relying on themes and ideas from other sci-fi series to borrowing some pretty major plot points..
