I've been working as a developer for almost twenty years now. In that time I have had the pleasure of helping many developers, and helping them debug code. This is a very short one. Keeping it for myself! For my recent minor projects I’ve been utilizing Pixi to run my virtual environments and it actually works great! It’s simple to start and keep going. What’s even better? Supports multiple environments (e.g. CUDA + CPU) Supports multiple platforms (e.g. osx-arm64 and linux-64)! Fast (3x faster than micromamba, 10x faster than conda!) Integrates better with pypi Has tasks (e.g. pixi ....

It seems working in embedded means you’ll, sooner or later, use a Raspberry PI. At my current work place we use Raspberry PIs, connected to the hardware we’re developing for, as Github CI runners. Anytime we want to add a new runner we need to flash an SD card and manually install all the dependencies and tools. What I’m looking for is an ability to generate Raspberry PI images, pre-installed with all the necessary (+ some of my favourite..

This post is now also listed at the Pickcode Blog ) Pickcode is the code editor for education that I’ve been working on for the past few years. It supports several languages including Python, Java, and Javascript. For many of our student users, Pickcode is the first piece of software they’ll use to write code (excluding stuff like Scratch). The goal of this post is to explain why our product should not contain an AI copilot/assistant/a....
