9V Battery Smoke alarms : These alarms can be in places that are difficult to reach, so it is best to choose a battery that lasts the longest. The recommendation is to pick a Lithium non-rechargeable battery with 10-year shelf life and the maxmimum capacity (on 2026-02-27 this was 1200 mAh ). Avoid rechargeable or alkaline batteries. I ended up choosing Tenergy batteries for this purpose.

Last weekend, a blog post about Booklore crossed my feed and piqued my interest. I've long used Calibre to manage my e-books and, in June last year, even containerised Calibre-server so that I could read (parts of) my library in a web browser. As fantastic as Calibre is, its interface is showing its age and I don't love that they've been diverting energy into adding AI features. I'm sure that they're probably useful to someone, ....

I have run into this post by John Rush, which I found really interesting, mostly because I so vehemently disagree with it. Here are the points that I want to address in John’s thesis: 1. Open Source movement gonna end because AI can rewrite any oss repo into a new code and commercially redistribute it as their own. 2. Companies gonna use AI to generate their none core software as a marketing effort (cloudflare rebuilt nextjs in a week....

It's small and tiny and so cute Have you ever always wanted a very very small voice note recorder that would fit in your pocket? Something that would always work, and always be available to take a note at the touch of a button, with no fuss? Me neither. Until, that is, I saw the Pebble Index 01 , then I absolutely needed it right away and had to have it in my life immediately, but alas, it is not available, plus it’s disposable, and I d..
