A friend recently asked me to document some of my Nix(OS) workflows and any tips I might have about Nix and NixOS. This page will be structured more like a wiki page and less like a blog post. These notes come from me using Nix in NixOS and aren't meant as a "Nix 101". They are things that I find noteworthy and might be useful to newcomers.

The Pi-Hole team has released a major update: Pi-hole v6 . Since this version features a completely new “engine,” the original PADD has also been updated. As a result, I’ve also updated my “Hyper” version, designed for larger displays (800x480px), tested on the Pimoroni HyperPixel 4.0 . I’ve created a GitHub repository, you can download the new padd.sh file here: giuliomagnifico/PADD-Hyper .

Link: Planet Igalia When I was preparing the Interop post yesterday, I found one of the agalia links didn't work and while I was hunting for the new link, I found Planet Igalia. :mind-blown: I've always wondered what's happening at Igalia and while I love the podcast, I do love a good Blog.... I'm really not sure how I missed this entire part of the site, but it's go so much good information and often frequent deep dives in to browsers.

Link: ESLint now officially supports linting of CSS - ESLint - Pluggable JavaScript Linter We feel that validation and enforcing baseline features are the minimum that a linter needs to support in 2025, and so we spent a lot of time making the no-invalid-at-rules, no-invalid-properties, and require-baseline rules as comprehensive as possible. Love it!! Absolutely love it. One of the areas that we would love to see more of (and we hope to wo..

After resetting my Keychron K3 Pro , my F1 to F12 keys were no longer my default macOS keys. The entire row was defaulting to macOS's special keys (i.e. Mission Control, Launch Pad, Volume, etc). At first, I thought I may just need to revisit the macOS setting "Use F1, F2, etc keys as standard function keys", yet toggling the setting made no difference. Turns out, I had remapped those keys long ago and simply forgot about it. Factory ....

Some thinking, trade-offs, theory building, and method-making one might ended up doing, in the course of bringing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) discipline to brownfield (and greenfield) services, at a small regulated fintech company, having a smaller engineering team that serves several business units, including one of India's largest national tax gateways. Only somewhat easier than reading a long compound sentence without pausing for breath..
