I have a Go struct that I want to encode to JSON with some additional fields. The struct looks like this:

In part one of the SOC Metrics series, I introduced the idea that success requires the right person doing the right things in the right ways . That article also described several foundational metrics , ways to measure the SOC’s ability to produce meaningful results. Part two then focused on measures of performance (MOPs), which assess whether or not (and to what degree) the SOC is doing the right things . This article delves in..

In part one of the SOC Metrics series, I introduced the idea that success requires the right person doing the right things in the right ways . Measures of performance (MOPs) assess whether or not (and to what degree) the SOC is doing the right things , and measures of effectiveness (MOEs) assess whether or not (and to what degree) the SOC is doing them in the right ways . MOPs and MOEs rely on foundational metrics to produce me..

I prefer a hands-off approach to management. Describe a goal, give me the freedom and resources to achieve it, and I will. The success of that approach, which the Army calls “mission command”, ultimately depends on the right person doing the right things in the right ways . Unfortunately, many focus on that first criterion but neglect the second and the third. In many cases, that leads to failure. In the final days of my last job, in a....

I started as Heroku GM a few weeks ago with intense enthusiasm to be a part of such a storied team. As you might expect, the last few weeks have not been what I would have imagined. But, contrary to what you might expect, I’m energized. I’ve been deeply impressed by the skills and dedication […] The post We’ve Heard Your Feedback appeared first on Heroku .

I’ve recently written a series of articles about Gherkin: its usage for requirements gathering , about its uses in BDD , and a lower-tech alternative to Cucumber , which I’m still experimenting with. I wanted to showcase all of these ideas brought together, as well as show how comfy modern Python tooling can be. But more than writing code, I would need to explain my reasoning as we draft the program. So I picked up again a tool I alway..

Let’s explore how a file-format design exercise turned into reinventing the wheel, and let’s all appreciate how lucky we are that the protocols that the internet are built on have fantastic public documents called RFC s. Designing a file format I was idly thinking about designing a good binary file format for a side project of mine called qrxfil . The project aims at QR-code-based file export: split a file in many pieces (based on conte..

Snyk Code is turning one! We’ve hit so many milestones in the last 12 months, and today we invite you to look back, celebrate, and peer into the future of code security with us.

Motherhood is a beautiful and ongoing learning experience. But what about being a working mom? Today, I had the opportunity to speak with two super moms at Snyk, Noa Korem and Amanda Parks, about how they felt returning to work after maternity leave.

I’m going to speak tonight on the Reformed doctrine of Predestination at the Presbyterian Seminary. If you are around Asunción, you’re invited to attend!

Have you heard about the projects working toward getting Python to run in the browser? Maybe you would like to try it out for yourself, by building an interactive Python REPL with Pyodide and WebAssembly (WASM). This week on the show, Christopher Trudeau is here, and he's brought another batch of PyCoder's Weekly articles and projects.

I had a bit of fun today poking around the Pwned Passwords data breaches. I wanted to see which Serie A team had the most fans based on the number of leaked passwords that can be reasonably associated with a specific team. Read more

WFH Day 782 - ingo-richter.io - 4 years ago - eng
Stepping into the Void Friday, May 6th, is the first time since the start of the Pandemic that I stepped inside our office. This time in San Jose. We wanted to celebrate a milestone with our team. The office was empty, and I saw only a handful of people. It was great to see my team and have lunch with them. Driving to the office sucked. As expected. Too many cars on the road, and the traffic in the Bay Area is horrific in the afternoon.

Few days ago I received (finally) the Apple Studio Display that I have ordered and I found some tips that I’ve rarely found in other reviews. So, I want to write about these less known features: Use ‘Hey Siri!’ with the Mac in stop I found that you can enable Ehy Siri! also on the unsupported Mac and it can also be triggered when the Mac is sleeping, the display will wake up, execute your command and after going to sleep. Watch/listen the..

There are a lot of ways of building software, there are many languages you could choose to build it with, many libraries to rely on, many frameworks to leverage, many architectural approaches, many platforms to choose, many paradigms of daily operations to follow. It takes years to get in-depth experience with just one permutation of these options. I’ve been programming for over twenty years, only half the time professionally, but that ..

SurveyMonkey taks with Snyk about standardizing tools and getting developers more involved with security work at growing organizations.

In this SDR Series, we get to know an SDR and an SDR manager in each of our three core regions: EMEA, North America, and APJ. In North America, we have SDR teams based in Boston and Denver. In this blog post, Joe MacInnis and Ally Sirois share what it’s like to be a part of our SDR team in North America!

Continuing with my journy of utilising Authentik for my SSO. After reading a rather good comment by /u/internallogictv over on the reddit /r/selfhosted , I wanted to add a few more protections. The simplest of which is to send myself a notification whenever a login or a failed login occurs. Step 1 First things first we create a new application in gotify in order to generate a token for authentik use. Select the Apps tab and press t....

I started working on a little hobby project over this Easter vacation that makes use of MongoDB. But one thing I wasn’t sure about was how to test Mongo operations. Spanner provides the very helpful spannertest package. Redis has miniredis , allowing you to spin up a little Redis instance for each test. I was thinking I’d likely have to mock Mongo myself, but it turns out its Go driver comes with a helpful (but unstable!) mocking package..

Introduction In the first three posts, I explained there were four aspects of a blockchain that this series would explore with a backing implementation provided by the Ardan blockchain project. Digital accounts with electronic signatures and verification Transaction distribution and synchronization between computers Redundant storage and consensus by different computers Detection of any fraud to past transactions The first post..

The other day I was thinking about how much experience I have programming. After all, that’s a common question that comes up in job interviews.

In our mission to make Terraform Cloud workflows more streamlined and secure, we’re excited to announce our new native integration into HashiCorp Terraform Cloud.

Earlier in the year, over 500 malicious packages were released into the npm ecosystem to create dependency confusion. Let’s look at some ways to help protect applications from dependency injection.

When using Multiple Page Generator for vastgoedopkoop.nl I didn’t want to relay on delivering the project Sitemap XML via the robots.txt. Therefore I wrote a filter to automaticly add them to the Yoast WordPress SEO sitemap_index.xml. Easy as that, enjoy and have fun! The post Quick tip: Automaticly add “Multiple Pages Generator” Project sitemap to Yoast sitemap index appeared first on Jaime Martinez .

You might think of Star Wars as a movie reserved for geeks, but what if I told you that there are deep life lessons that can be applied to developer security practices? Get your lightsaber ready and prepare to dive into JavaScript security!
